In The Community
We are strong believers in helping our community in Baltimore, Maryland. The Sawmill team supports the region’s non-profit organizations by providing public relations counsel and services to the following organizations, as board members and volunteers:
Parks & People Foundation –
Dedicated to supporting a wide range of recreational and educational opportunities; creating and sustaining beautiful and lively parks in Baltimore, Maryland and promoting a healthy natural environment for all.
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation ( Maryland Chapter) –
Works to assure the development of the means to cure and control CF and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. Nearly 90 cents of every dollar raised goes to research. Sawmill assists with the chapter’s annual benefit luncheon and party during the Grand National Steeplechase.
Rebuilding Together Baltimore –
Previously known as Christmas in April Baltimore, this volunteer organization is dedicated to helping low-income homeowners, through home renovation and repair. Once a year, on the last Saturday in April, skilled and unskilled volunteers alike join together in a unique one-day event reminiscent of the barn-raising tradition of America's past. The group helps Baltimore's low-income population, particularly the elderly, disabled, and families with children, who often live in deteriorating conditions.
Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore –
This nonprofit organization provides entrepreneurial training, technical assistance and follow-up services for micro-business start-up and development in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Sawmill volunteers its expertise to the WEB marketing committee as well as screens prospective students and advises them on their marketing plans.
Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation –
An organization dedicated to furthering Alex Haley’s messages embodied in the book Roots and his other writings. This includes his vision of a world that celebrates ethnic diversity while honoring common, universal experiences and building mutual respect. In addition, the foundation encourages people of all ethnic backgrounds to search for their own “roots.” Sawmill provides ongoing public relations counsel.
