Jeff Davis to Lead Baltimore PR Practice with Susan Anthony

BALTIMORE, Md. (August 3, 2005) – Jeffrey A. Davis, a 20-year veteran of the public relations industry in Maryland serving national and regional clients, has joined Sawmill Marketing Public Relations as partner. Davis joins the Baltimore-based national media relations practice founded by Susan J. Anthony in 1995 following her agency career that included Saatchi and Saatchi Business Communications in New York and Richardson, Myers & Donofrio in Baltimore.

A former daily newspaper reporter, Davis’ background includes holding key public relations management positions with advertising/public relations agencies in Baltimore and Annapolis, including Crosby Marketing Communications, where he was senior vice president, Richardson, Myers & Donofrio, where he headed the Public Relations division as vice president, and Trahan, Burden & Charles, where he was an account executive.

A member of the National Press Club, Davis is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America and serves as a national judge for PRSA 's Silver Anvil awards program in New York. Regionally, he served as president of the PRSA Maryland Chapter in 1998 and 1999. Davis began his career as a reporter for daily newspapers in Ohio, New Jersey and Maryland. He is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism.

Experienced working with national media, trade press and regional news outlets, Davis and Anthony will focus on media relations services for Sawmill’s clients, with a particular emphasis on publicity, crisis communications and spokesperson training/media coaching services.

Sawmill serves a range of clients, including Ziger/Snead Architects in Baltimore, Howard Bank in Columbia, Md. and the family of Chandra Levy. Other client work includes ongoing public relations programs for South River Consulting in Baltimore, the Baltimore regional office of insurance firm Hilb, Rogal and Hobbs, and national media relations for RewardsPlus, Hunt Valley, Md.

Media training services have been used by a range of Sawmill clients, most recently by partners of a Philadelphia law firm in preparation for a high-profile case. This Fall Davis and Anthony will convene a crisis communications summit and media training session for a Western ski resort client. The summit is part of a national PR campaign to build traffic next season for eight skiing/snowboarding properties.
